CHILD LABOUR ELIMINATION: 

   
Child labour is the worst form of child right violation .PECUC is committed to the eradication of child labour through building public opinion, highlighting violation inflicted upon child labourers and promoting justice through fact finding and public interest litigation, advocacy, lobbying & monitoring regional, national & international developments & moreover by developing successful alternative strategy to eradicate 

child labour. PECUC is also actively involved with Campaign Against Child Labour (CACL), a nationwide network for the eradication of child labour.  Being one of the founder members of its Orissa chapter PECUC  was the state co-ordinating agency of CACL till December 2002 and is now hosting the National Secretariat from June 2003.

CENTER FOR RIGHTS OF THE CHILD (CRC)

PECUC  has established a CENTER FOR RIGHTS OF THE CHILD (CRC) a resource centre aiming at protection, promotion & propagation of child rights with focus on elimination of child labour & prevention of child trafficking, child sexual abuse etc.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER – "SHRADHA" ( Means Love and Affection)

The problem of child labour & exploitation on children is very much acute in the PECUC’s operational area, which are mostly dominated by tribals, dalit & other socio-economic backward community. Against such backdrop, PECUC has established Child Development Center (CSCs) in its operational area. This process was launched during 1995 – 96 by establishing four CSCs. Now PECUC have over 30 

Child Support Centers. These centers were named as CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER – SHRADHA BHAWAN. The overall aim of these CSCs is to protect, propagate, and promote the rights of the child, more 100 centres are needed to be opened in the operational areas of PECUC.

Child right protection & promotion (Focus on eradication of child labour, combating child trafficking, preventing child abuse). Rights of the aged, humam right education, advocacy & gender justice.

Legal Advocacy Cell

A Legal Advocacy Cell has been constituted with participation of legal experts, practicing lawyers, academicians, Child Right Activists, etc.

Campaign for Education as a Fundamental right

Massive campaign for education as a fundamental right are being been conducted regularly. Rallies, meetings, seminars, consultation with MLAs and MPs are being conducted in a regular basis for ensuring free, compulsory, quality and relevant education up to class 10 or atleast 18 years of age. PECUC has been lobbing for enforcement of existing laws and formulation of pro-child policies in the state. 

Campaign Against Child Labour (CACL):

CACL was launched in 1992, initially as a network of a few organisations, grew over the years. At present the campaign consists of a network of over 6000 anti-child labour groups spread over 20 states in India. Active women's group, trade unions, academic institutions, media agencies, child rights and human rights organisations, research bodies, corporate houses, student volunteers and imminent citizens constitute an integral part of the campaign.

PECUC has been given the responsibility of hosting the National Secretariate from june 2003.

Campaign Against Child Trafficking:

The Campaign against child Trafficking has been initiated in Orissa as a part of International Campaign Against Child Trafficking in which PECUC was the founder coordinating agency for Orissa state and member of National Executive committee. Presently PECUC is actively involved in preventing child trafficking for the purpose of labour and sexual exploitation.
