  WORKING GROUP FORMED ON TRIBAL CULTURE AND GLOBALISATION

: The contribution of tribal culture cannot be denied in enriching the diversified Indian culture to reach at it's Zenith. The tribals are essential part of global society and their indigenous lifestyle has played a vital role in shaping every nation's social milieu. The uniqueness sound in their life style has made their culture more adorable and glorified. Starting with these languages resource persons clarified that spite of difference in their caste, creed and habitation a great similarity can be seen in tribal social life, religious believes, customs and traditions.

At a Seminar on "Tribal Culture & Globalisation" organised by the leading NGO people's Cultural Center 
(PECUC) held at KONARK Natya Mandap on the occasion of 17th Konark Dance and Music Festiva, issues relating to development of Tribals and tribal culture were vividly discussed. Apart from that globalization and liberalisation process has vast impact on tribal life & there is a need to develop safety net to protect the interests & culture of tribal people - all the participants viewed.
    
Addressing the Seminar Prof. L.K Mohapatra former vice chancellor, Utkal University and Sambalpur University stressed on the recognition of Tribals in the light of global brotherhood and expressed his grave concern by so called civilised society. He also observed that the govt. is ignoring the inner voice of the uniqueness of tribal culture and promotion of its.

While Director of Academy of Tribal Dialects and Culture Prof Manmath Kundu spoke at length on "Culture, Language and Performing Arts of Tribals  - validity on international context" and sj. B. K Tripathy (IPS) IG police (Retd) Govt. of Orissa on "Tribal Self Rule, Customary Laws and Modern Social Legislation" , Officer on Special Duty  at SCST Research Training Institute Dr. Anant Sahoo expressed his concern over "Tribal Craft and Modern Technology". At the same time Prof Mary Gabriela Bage of sociology

 Dept.  Utkal University nicely dealt with the topic "Socio -Cultural Life of Life of Tribals in National and International Context". The resource persons also expressed their views on "Tribal Economy and global economy" along with "Tribal Development - policies. Programmes and practices in the international context.

Among others the Secretary-cum-Chief Executive of PECUC Mr. Ranjan Mohanty, eminent Educationist & Film personality Sj. Sarat Pujari, founder of Konark Natya Mandap Guru Gangadhar Pradhan, Dr. Nilakantha Panigrahi from Naba Krushna Choudhury center for Development Studies, development consultant Mr Subrat Das, Mr. Hemant Nayak from GMS attended and actively participated in the Seminar. A five member civil society working group was formed to evolve a strategy for a proposed today workshop at Bhubaneswar during April in this context.
